Austin Project

This is our new design service project - "Austin". Our clients had recently purchased a Victorian House which had been architecturally updated but was essentially a blank canvas. We worked closely with our clients to create a family and dog friendly scheme with a focus on the ground floor entertaining spaces;
Entrance Hallway
The substantial hallway was updated to create that wow factor when visitors arrived, leading them through to the entertainment space, We were conscious to maintain this area as an open, clutter-free space whilst providing a busy family thoroughfare.
We installed new lighting. Lighting in a hallway should not be too bright, but should provide a welcoming, warm ambiance when entering the house. We installed pendant lighting designed to lead visitors through to the entertaining space at the back of the house.

We placed a console below two large mirrors. The console provides a decorative function, camouflaging two radiators. The mirrors open up the space making it feel much grander and reflecting light into a potentially dark space.
We included an upholstered bench to bring some colour into the scheme as well as providing a practical area to change shoes.

Entertainment Space
The house had a large open plan space, housing the recently installed kitchen, leading to a large expanse of terracing and gardens. The client was looking for a contemporary, but comfortable space, for entertaining friends and providing a living space for the family.
Kitchen - the existing kitchen was perfectly functional but was lacking in style. The back of the kitchen was dominated by a bulky built-in extractor fan. We installed in a new slim-line extractor fan and tiled the complete back wall to create a bright modern feel.

Tiling above the work surfaces creates a contemporary look as well as bringing colour into a scheme that is relatively monochromatic. We used a high gloss scallop tile to create additional texture.
New Lighting - The previous lighting was poorly positioned and created a shadow on the work surfaces when people stood at the bench. We installed contemporary spot lights to improve the task lighting in this area. We also installed pendant mood lighting over the kitchen island, providing a lower level of lighting to create a relaxed convivial space.

Wine Cellar

Cloakroom
The Cloakroom is situated off the main hallway and the client was looking to create a surprise when visitors used this room. We recommended an exciting wallpaper....

Living Room
We were asked to provide a sophisticated relaxing adult space, separate from the family TV snug, with the feeling of a music room/library.
